6. Leaders should be chosen by us

Steve Biko rejected leaders who were imposed by the West. His legacy demands accountability to communities, not foreign agendas. As he taught: “Black man, you are on your own,” – including choosing your guides. Together with the son of Steve Biko, Hlumelo Biko, we explore the legacy of independence left by his father.
